ANZAC Day, The 100th Anniversary.
on: April 25, 2015, 09:19:43 AM
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

The Mother Country can learn an awful lot on how to remember the fallen from ANZAC Day
There is no beginning,or ending,and for this we are thankful,cos now is hard enough to understand!

A couple of years ago I visited Hill 60, a very humbling place ...

I saw that the six VC's won by one of the landing regiments (English unit, can't remember which) on the first day are all on display together for the first time.  Six VC's in a few hours.  The landings were hell, and it all got worse from there.....

A good idea ruined by poor planning and leadership. If they had landed 50 miles up the coast near Ibrice, where there was room to maneuver, instead of at the toe of a narrow rocky peninsula, things might have gone differently.

I see, you're talking about the British and French landings at Cape Helles.
We are more concerned with the Australians and New Zealanders landing at what is now known as Anzac Cove: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_at_Anzac_Cove

My grandfather was there.
But he was carrying a stretcher rather than a Lee Enfield.
Yes, they had medics back then.  I'm sure he was kept very busy.
