I had an idea and am curious if anyone has tried it.  I was thinking about using one or two pieces of heat-shrink tubing, both to help hold the assembly together and protect the alox scales during peening.  Has anyone tried this?

  • I'm an Adult?!?! When did that happen?
I've not tried heat shrink, but in the past I have used thin leather and thick Mylar film with a hole in it to protect scales while peening. That Vic anodizing is mighty fragile.

I've always used double layered painter's tape. Seems to work pretty well.

I've seen some photos on the forum, perhaps yours, using leather with hole clearance for the brass rods.  I may try this method too.

Bicycle inner tube, with a hole, works fine.
