It would appear we have some new versions of plier heads out there.

Looks different than my Surge. Anyone else notice this change? Anyone else have more pics?

It seems they have adopted the aggressive teeth similar to that found on a leatherman OHT. To me this is a definite improvement.

Counting teeth on the flat section of the plier, ssvs04 seems to have about 17serrations, my Surge has over 30. Definitely a lot more aggressive now.

For reference my Surge is mid-2014, purchased in Australia.

My new surge I got today has a lot less aggressive teeth than my old model surge.  I'll post up pics later.

I'm not quite sure what you mean by new pliers? The wave has standard pliers and the charge has cap crimper pliers? I thought that was normal?

I'm less interested in the numbers of teeth, and more interested if they've done anything with the excessive handle splay  :whistle:

Oh, I get ya. Mine were like that too I reckon, but I don't have the plier head to check anymore, sold it in a Rebar. I just assumed all CC plier heads were like that as I'd only had that one.

Could it be, that CC head only has wider jimpings?

All they need to do is put replaceable cutters on more models.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

My Surge has fine teeths.  I just can't read date on it. Will try take pictures of it. If them would show something. ..

My Surge is 0813, same as that pictured above. I noticed the bigger notching on ssvs04's Surge, looks like a good improvement.

Had to wait sunshine to see dates. Other handle is 1113 and other 1014. And fine teeths BO Surge.

I also bought a Wave with new pliers, dated 03/15 - both sides.
They also had a Charge AL with new pliers, but I didn't checked that closely...
The rest of tools was with old pliers, maybe old stock.

My Surge, with both handles dated 10/14 has the finer teeth.  I think I prefer them to the coarse teeth on the Rebar as they're less likely to mark delicate materials.

Someone asked about the date on their surge....I cant find it
I know where it is on my STs and Waves etc...but I cant find it on the Surge (JUST got it 10 days ago from the LM store in Portland)
