Amazon announces Prime Day July 15
on: July 07, 2015, 06:48:28 AM
Amazon claims to be having the biggest sale of the year--bigger than Black Friday--for Amazon Prime Members on July 15: http://www.amazon.com/b/ref=pin15_us_gw_d_h1_pre-event_prime?_encoding=UTF8&node=11448061011. Probably a good day to look for multitool deals.

Amazon UK is also advertising it on their home page.

I saw this as well. I will keep a eye out for knives, MT's, flashlights, and bike gear.  :tu:

I'll be watching for knives and MTs, too. Should we post them here? Or, if we find a good deal, start new threads here in the Deals and Auctions section? Since it's only a one day sale, maybe here so as not to fill up the sub forum (assuming there are multiple deals)?

Either or. It might get skipped over if posted in this thread so if there is a especially awesome deal then I would start a new thread with a title to match.

I am a total Amazon Prime addict.  It makes it too easy to get a quick emotional buzz by hitting the purchase button, and I do it quite frequently.

Forgive me for being a total luddite, but what the heck is Prime all about anyway? If I use the site, I add stuff to the basket as I go, and follow the simple and quick checkout procedure. Done!

It's always trying to lure me into Prime, but being an eternal sceptic, I'm always looking for the catch. I'm here and I'm spending money, so if you want me to sign up to this other scheme and offer me discounts to do so, that means that it's financially beneficial for Amazon for me to do so. Why? Why is it they want me to do more than just have an account there and spend money? What other benefit is Amazon getting?

EDIT: Ah, I see it now. Annual subscription. I'll pass  :salute:

The free 2 day shipping does it for me...paid my subscription back many times already this year using that. Then there's the free streaming movies and music.

Used to be $75.  :pok: :D

Even at $99 it's still worth it if you order stuff frequently though.

Yeah, I can understand why frequent buyers might benefit. I just don't like to be tied in to buying from any one source. If they want that kind of loyalty, they should be paying me, not me paying them.

A Prime membership also gives you unlimited photo backups across multiple computers, phones or tablets.

I did not see any multitools on the USA site. I did see a few Victorinox watches and a Breitling though.

That was the only SAK/multi I could see for the UK.  I might get one if it's a good price.  Some lights, portable electronics and other tools that were ok but probably nothing else I'd go for.

Sadly I did not see any lights.

They were advertising the crap out of this and saying its bigger than black Friday, but so far it seems pretty weak.

ALX was going for £95. Not bad, but still not good enough to buy one. Raptor and Spartan up at the moment, but I'm going to hang on and see if the Surge gets listed.
