Anyone have a EAB lite.

I was thinking of getting a EAB lite for the simple fact of being able to switch out the razor blades and not having to sharpen. I don't mind sharpening, but I rather do it as little as possible as of right now. Anyone have a EAB lite and what are your thoughts?

Yeah, I have one. My feeling, and general consensus, is go for the standard one. The Lite is fine, but the standard is marginally better IMHO

I was watching some reviews comparing the two and from what I saw the lite had improvements over the original like the guard going higher on the blade and adding a little finger choil like piece as well as a bit more metal where the tip of the blade almost protrudes when closed.

I have both (my intro into this MT/SAK world actually), but haven't used/carried them in a long time.  They're both in storage now, so I can't help with a comparison.  Interested in the differences though.  Both are good little blades in my experience :tu:

@Cap'n S

Yes, I can see what you mean on both counts there.

As to extending the bottom section, if I press my thumb hard on the bottom section of the standard one, the blade "just" touches the skin as it passes. Maybe someone with fleshier hands of softer skin could in theory get in the way of the blade passing if you were holding the blade in a very obscure way when closing it. Certainly not a hazard in my opinion, and certainly no worse a hazard or higher risk than the blade moving "before" it get's to the handle  ;) So I'd say that's 95% a moot point.

As to the choil on the Lite, that's certainly a lot better, and you can be more confident with it if holding the knife with your index finger wrapped there. However, I don't find either knife comfortable if held that way. Personally I tend to use the EABs (both of them) with a kind of pinch grip. To me it's more comfortable, and I feel safer with it on both knives. I am kind of used to using a pinch grip though, as that's the kind of grip I'd often use on a slippy if poking a hole in something (I hope that makes sense)

I have considered an EAB but I ended up picking up one of these from Craftsman:
http://www.craftsman.com/craftsman-folding-lock-back-ulility-knife-red/p-00938000000P?prdNo=7&blockNo=7&blockType=G7

It's half the price and seems like it would be more comfortable. I carried it in my pocket this past Friday and couldn't even feel it.
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

I've had one of the craftsman, but not the eab. I can vouch for the craftsman being small yet comfortable. But the scales are cheaply made. Mine came off after the first fall :facepalm: I have been considering an eab.

One thing I am worried about is the replacement blades. I figured it would take any standard blades, but after reading reviews it seems as the EAB is a bit picky on replacement blades.

I picked up and eab lite earlier today. I'm amazed at how small and compact it is. It's fun to flick open also..

I've not had any issues with standard shaped blades so far, but I did buy some hook blades and they won't go in
