Still Bowie shopping. May just opt for a hunting license upgrade and strap on the .357 again. Have a 30.06 I could lug around too, though wished I had a 30-30. Dad said 30-30's were worthless for anything over 60 yards, so never did get one. Least with a Bowie knife one has a machete too, and there's times when ya just want that extra bit of blade heft.
Was looking at KA-BAR which I thought would make decent knives, but their Bowies & machetes are made in taiwan. What the smurf?
HiThis thread made me wonder how old I was when I watched this movie. Those were the days before we had TV locally, my dad being in the electronics (aircraft radio) field was somewhat of a pioneer so we had a TV and VCR.I can tell you 100% sure we watched it off a Philips VCR cassette...that was before VHS and Betamax Anyway......What about Cudeman? Picking up a 107R today, 106R soon. Not quite what you're looking for, but I'll not rest until I own a TOPS Prather War Bowie.I might have a secret Bowie addiction, and by no means sure Crocodile Dundee is not to blame for that
Here is the review thread:http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forum.php?styleid=33just ignore the moaners...
This Cudeman 202L might be the kind of thing you're after Jim.(Image removed from quote.)
Nothing wrong with a Cudeman IMO. I have had a couple for years and they've both done a lot of work. They might be 'only' 440 stainless, but Cudeman seem to have a very good heat treatment as they both take a good edge and hold it. Not one I have, but the 106R looks excellent.(Image removed from quote.)
Why olive over the stamina wood? Was looking at the 202R for the redish wood color. Does olive offer something other than looks?

My understanding is that it's been pressure injected with resin before being glued together, basically like a wooden Micarta.
