An apology to the forum
on: August 03, 2015, 07:55:29 PM
Sometimes, our emotions get the better of us.  Over the past two days, I took offense to statements made by several members, perhaps misinterpreting them.  I let my feelings get the better of me, which is not what I should be doing as a moderator here.  Getting into arguments and threatening members with banning is not moderating, it's inflaming.  We are all entitled to our own beliefs on different topics.  At times, they clash with the beliefs of others here.  That's the curse and at the same time the beauty of a forum like this, where members from different countries and cultures can get together and discuss a common interest.  I know I offended numerous members with my actions in the past few days, and for that I apologize.  Please, I don't want other members to jump ship because of this.  What occurred is not what this forum is about.  I seriously thought about bailing over this myself.  Let's move on, and continue to make this the best place on the 'net.

This is very big of you Tom - I'm sure it'll go a long way to helping this situation.

You're right about the forum and it's great that this rarely happens.

It must be very difficult to moderate on topics you have strong views on, and it's big of you to post this.

We say smurf in the heat of debate to people we like and respect that otherwise we would never say.
It's unfortunate but it happens.  I pretty much get over ish quickly and hope with time all involved will too.

Tom I do not feel you owe any one an apology. The OP crossed several serious lines and you dealt with them as needed. I understand why you have offered an apology and glad you have as that is what real men of character and moral integrity do to bring healing and reconciliation to a bad situation. You have my respect!       :salute:
