It´s not me, that´s all I know.
Maybe you can message the seller if he can tell you the username - Tell him you´d be interested in buying the aucvtioned item.

From what I understand, it's pretty near impossible to identify an ebay user.  My experience is that these things (aggressive buyers) go in cycles.  Consider doing more watching and less bidding for a spell.  And definitely don't bid until the end of the auction.

Not me.  When I was roaming the bay I would also see some very active winners of old tools.  I'd hoped that I would see them here on MTO but nope.

Be neat if it was a member and pictures were involved  :pok:

No, I'm not even vaguely in the hunt at the prices currently being paid ( I don't usually bid too high for duplicates of MTs I already have).  But I do have an idea that could save them $$$ without reducing their chance of winning.

I have with a few friends on here, but one MTo member was very upset about the concept so haven't carried it any further (plus I'm sure eBay would get very upset if they found out what we are doing).  I'll PM you with an outline.

Wouldn't be the first time something like this has happened here. I've seen a list of names somewhere. Maybe on SOSAK?

I can remember when ebay users names were listed in full.

I'm going back here....10+ yrs ago. At the time I was working in shop fitting and ebay back then was just rammed full of bargains. I got my first bitter taste of what dealers do. I was trying to build up the bosch 24v cordless kit. Some of the deals on ebay at the time were unbelievable. But I began to notice a pattern developing. I started missing out on stuff, at first I put it down to bad luck. But then it became everything I'd looked at, bid on. I checked back and got this "buyers" name and checked his completed listings and listings for sale.

The smurf was just breaking everything up and relisting at almost retail price. I let it ride for a couple of months, but now everything was being ran upto almost retail value he was making a mint but was taking everything. One night I lost my rag and contacted this buyer - heated arguments were exchanged. He then kept coming back and making threats, saying he would list something under an alias as bait and so get my address and pay me a visit. I contacted ebay immediately. I don't know what was said but I began getting some very nasty threats then, some saying he'd gotten my address and would come and burn my house down!! I contacted eBay again and he just disappeared!

I don't really like ebay these days. It's just a smokescreen for many to sell broken/stolen goods. Ebay turns a blind eye, but yet acts all high and mighty on multitool sales which are not actually illegal here in the UK.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

There was a way to identify a bidder but only if you were a bidder on that auction. The ebay.com disabled this later on but I think some of the Asian ones still have that possibility, at least the last time I tried.

I just tried on all the Asian ebay sites I could find, some just showed me the standard bidder list (without any identifying info about the winning bidder ie the same as US ebay.com), the others just got an error when I tried to search on the item number.  Which site was working for you ?

Here's the "How to..." posted by SM2k some time ago.

Try www.ebay.cn or www.ebay.com.sg and so on.

With eBay having hidden id's for all who bid on any item now, it can be frustrating to not know who it is always outbidding you or winning all those auctions you wish were yours. You can find out the winning bidder just moments after the sale without having to wait for the buyer or seller to post feedback, only if you have placed a bid on the auction at some point.

All you need to do is click the "Advanced" parameter button next to the "Search" button. Click on "By Bidder" in the left hand column under "Items", add your eBay identity and check off the box for Completed listings and then click Search. You can do this with any known eBay identity that is active, at least here in the US.

The list that is displayed will include the prior 30 days of auctions you have bid on. You can arrange the list by clicking the column headings. I like to arrange them by ending date. Now scroll down to the auction you lost out on and the winning bidder's identity will be displayed.

I have found that certain European countries have restricted this search feature and will not allow you to see the listings. I have been able to do this on far east countries with no problems.

This is all public information and in no way violates any laws or rules of eBay etc. Just in case you were wondering.

Thanks for the extra info  :tu:

I tried, but without any success so far (translation and logon issues with www.ebay.cn; and while ww.ebay.com.sg allows me to request the search, the bidder list doesn't appear).  I've spent a few hours on this and am getting a bit frustrated with it, so I'll give it a break for a while and try again later.
