One never knows what you can find in a pawn shop.

Today, I walked into a pawn shop and immediately called an attendent to open up the knife case. Yes, it was a good day.

Ooh, ooh, me too!  :D

I believe it was produced by one of fiskars' sub-companies, a budget version from China.

Wow! I just found what looks to be the exact same tool in the bottom of a junk drawer in my computer room. It has been missing for a while. The one I have is a God awful Gerber wannabe. The knife is dull, The pliers do not open smoothly, and two of the tools have no nail nick to open them.

Yep, not exactly all that common oddly enough, at least not around my small part of the world.

Yours, mine, and mikeoz' are probably the only ones I've seen, maybe one other. Though I'm sure more people here have them, they certainly aren't common!

I had two NIP, and actually did a giveaway for one on here a while back.  Now I have one and Gareth has one.  :D

Nice score, Chako.  :tu:

I do have a few others...

This older model which shows good quality in construction.

I thought I had gotten a duplicate...however there are some differences between these two. Mostly in the font used, quality of finish, and a few other oddities. The tool selection is the same however, but there are many small differences. The newest addition is of better build quality than this one shown below. Inside of one handle, this older acquisition has "SF China" stamped on the inside file layer side. My newer acquired copy has "HH China" stamped on the same file layer handle side.

And of course this fisherman model with the Winchester label.

I think I have a few in my "copies of Gerbers" box, I should dig them out and see if they are all identical or not.

Portuguese pawn shops suck! They buy "old stuff" and sell "antiques".

The difference, you ask? About 400% in the price.

 :twak: :twak: :twak: :twak:

I've seen used watches, with scratches and evident signs of use going by almost the same price as a new one...

Here is the original link to the first one I acquired. It also has some pertinent info on who imported them etc...

And got to love how folks rip my photos off...

This sort of things happen to me all the freaking time. Whenever I do an online search, I see mass stealing of my images.

Is any one here Cutlerynovice? I do recall giving someone permission to use my photos...is this it?

You scored well, Chako.   The most interesting pawn shop in this area is in a bad part of town and has drunks sleeping in front of it.  I would visit it often if it were not for that.

Watermarks are easy to remove, and they detract from the image something fierce. Not a big fan of watermarks.

Pawn shops, antique stores and flea markets...you got to love 'em!

I stopped at every one I saw during my trip to the Northwest...so I stopped at about 10 or so.  I was able to find a late '80's LM PST that was clean (no sheath) reasonably priced and a small jewlers-style vice.
