bSi Insta-Set (Super Glue Hardener)
on: September 04, 2015, 10:14:46 PM
In light of my recent Wave warranty exchange, I needed new paracord knife thumb studs. (I hate the hole, hence the lack of Spyderco's in my collection)

On a "Tested" video from YouTube: Adam Savage talks about Super Glue and instant setting sprays.

(Mobile Link, I don't have Wifi or a Desktop Currently)

I immediately ordered some, I use Super Glue for everything and I can not stand letting glue sit overnight to harden on rubber.

For less than 6 USD through Amazon I ordered a 2 Fl. oz. Spray Bottle of Bob Smith Industries "Insta-Set"

It immediately hardens and cures most CA Glue.

I just used it for the first time on the paracord for a little extra "retention" and within a second I could safely wipe the excess spray off the Wave with no paper towel peices sticking to any wet glue. (No dust balls either)

Definetly one of my new favorite "Tools" in my toolbox. (Mods feel free to move this thread if this is MT reviews specific)

It also doesn't seem to effect any plastic or rubber fishing lures. (Made some test sprays)

**Note I used Loctite Super Glue. Definetly some of my favorite Brick and Motor Super Glue Brands.

Glad you got some. I was always interested in that stuff when I watch his videos where he uses it. If I used super glue ore I would definitely be buying some.

I love that tool cart he made by the way.

DO NOT USE ON MEDICAL GLUE.

If you are super gluing a cut or scrape. Do not use the hardener. It is an irritant and heat is most definetly a product of the reaction. Super concentrated burning heat..........................

Maybe.....

Yeah.........

I was installing new bearings into some hubs for the Boat project.

And I reached into the grease gun to pull out the old tube, and the edge of the can cap (like a new style soup can, you pull the tab and the cap comes off but there is a rim still on the lip of the can) and my thumb met that rim. Sliced right through it.

So in order to keep grease out I cleaned it, glued it, and sprayed it. I knew it would be warm but it got HOT. I ran it under some water and it cooled instantly and was already set.

Fast Cap sells a product called 2P10, they say it is a 2 part 10 seconds setting adhesive. And since it is just Ca glue I thought the activator could work in other brands as long as they are the CA. Ever used this particular one?

BTW, your imrpovised thumb studs looks much nicer than zip ties!
