Walker
on: September 06, 2015, 07:03:13 PM
As some have alreay note, Vic has recently (it's not in their 2015 catalogue) resurrected the Lumberjack & baptized it as the Walker. It's still 84mm, w/red cellidor scales, blade, saw, combi-tool, & key ring but somewhat enhanced w/toothpick & tweezer, 0.2313.

Nice, please let us know if they re-release or remake the Apprentice (like Waiter but with phillips instead of corkscrew). Thanks

Now make it in alox, add a reamer and scissors
Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

I did order that one but received the wrong model the other day. I might re-order it soon because this is perfect for when I'm at my parents summer house and other places. No unnecessary tools on this one.

Honestly, I don't see why it's so special.  It's just a My First Victorinox with the blunted blade swapped for plain drop-point blade.  But, since it's in all practicality the Lumberjack, why not retain the name?

Still though, I think I may pick it up.

Hmm, this appears to be another not sold in the US model. Judging by the fact that the price in the posts shows pounds sterling. I really wonder how many SAKS are out there, not sold in the US - but world wide?

Nice unit however - great for those times when you don't need a full set of tools.

Unfortunately, the same story goes for Europe.

I would have liked to buy a Wenger Serrated Highlander. I couldn't find it on amazon.de, amazon.uk, knivesandtools and what have you. So I decided to go to amazon.com. They had it in stock but the seller would not send it to Belgium. I still tried a few others in the U.S. Same result.

Highly frustrating!    :ahhh

What a happy accident this turned out to be!

So I ordered the Walker off of eBay for a pretty good price. But I got sent the Super Tinker instead. I emailed them about it and they said they'd send me a Walker to fix their mistake. I offered to help cover some of the expenses but they declined and said this was on them.

So for the price of a Walker, I got the Walker -AND- Super Tinker. The Walker arrived today. (And on the left is my Swisschamp, on the right; Minichamp)

Sweet deal!

Indeed, a simple gesture like that can make me a customer for life. Gerber has also treated me quite well in that regard. It's really the smart thing to do, you can either save a bit of money and turn the customer away, or you can spend a little money and make me a customer for life. In the end it'll benefit them and me.
