Hi,
I just purchased a new -old in package- Victorinox AutoTool. My question is about the tire pressure gage. It has a digital liquid crystal readout. That being said, I assume that there is some battery needed to operate the gauge readout. Is there is or is there ain't a battery needed?

Yes, and a fault by design, the battery can't be replaced

Damn. How terribly un-Victorinox of them to design such a flaw.

I never realized that.  I know the light needed a battery, never thought about nor tried the tire gauge.

I changed the battery in mine. It isn't easy. I got it to light up and read 00, but it wouldn't read the tire pressure.

I just think that it was built in obsolescence, as all plastic parts were made in China

I was able to replace the battery. You need to remove the screw on the side of the tire pressure gauge. Then remove the round metal clip on the nose of the gauge. Next pry the case apart along the part lines. It doesn't come apart very easily. I ended up cracking the case in one spot, but was able to later glue it back together. Remove six screws holding down the circuit board that has the display. The battery is on the other side of the board. It is a CR1620. Reverse these steps to reassemble.

that thing looks like a gerber diesel and a swisstool had sex in the backroom of an autoparts store. See something new here everyday, even though it must be quite old
