lots and lots and lots of stuff for sale....
on: October 16, 2015, 07:18:42 PM
I've still not managed to get all the piccies taken  ::) but I have managed to get a load of stuff weighed for postal cost purposes. I think I've got stuff priced fairly, but am willing to look at discounts for multiple purchases, and also postal cost reductions by maybe sending unregistered to people I trust and have dealt with before. If you're interested in something but think I've got the price wrong, send me a PM and lets talk

Over 18's only, prices include paypal fees, and donation to the forum. Postal costs will be detailed at the end of the list of tools. Weights will be shown against each item.

I will get pics up bit by bit, but if there's anything particular you want to see, just let me know. NOTE: some items are semi-reserved for people who have already expressed an interest, and they will get first refusal.

Al, I'm interested in the Charge AL and bits, but not the LED Lenser F1.  Are they a 'proper' factory set with pouch, or one you'e put together (and would be willing to split)?

Standard Charge AL, with pouch and a bit card. I'm just chucking the F1 in as a freebie really. I clipped it to the sheath when it went in the drawer, and figured I'd leave it there when I sold it. Someone has already got first refusal on this, and I'm waiting to hear back, but you're welcome to be next in line  :salute: (unless I've given someone else second refusal and I've forgot  :ahhh)

It would be rude to break up the set so I would like the wrench and pouch please....

That's why I tend to use generic phrases like "pocket tool" or "hand tool" when posting stuff.  Also their own rules set out pretty clearly what can be classified as a Weapon, and it's not a lot. http://www.royalmail.com/personal/help-and-support/Tell-me-about-Prohibited-Goods  See bottom of the page.

.... and knives have their own specific mention under sharp objects in restricted (not prohibited) items. My post office is exactly the same though, and I too have to use cunning phrasing just to get it over the counter. I even phoned up their main customer services at one point and patronised them into submission  :twak: They just kept saying "but could you hurt someone with it?". I told them that's not the definition of a weapon according to their T&C's, that if so inclined and determined enough, you could hurt someone with a chip butty.

I then started listing everyday items I could hurt someone with such as ball point pen, steel toe capped shoes, sporting goods, frying pan, plant pot, asking if these were all prohibited items because I could hurt someone with them. They steadily went from being belligerent arseholes to whimpering buffoons, and then I asked them if they could then educate their regional staff that these other items are also not prohibited and safe to send if packaged in accordance with your restricted goods procedures. They replied "it might be better if you told them, they'll probably listen to you" and hung up

So far I've managed to get everything through I've needed too without actually telling lies (and now working for a tooling company means my "uniform" helps  >:D) but I'm always prepared for a showdown everytime I go in, because I'm not prepared to lie to them in order to get them to send a package that is in full compliance with their T&Cs.  >:(

Wichard Tool: Mini Review

The Wichard strays from the norm with what is believed to be forged and chromed slipjointed pliers. The plier tips are not ground between forging and plating, so the tips aren't as precise as can be found on other tools, but the gripping range is very good.

Tool load out is very modest, a non-locking combo edged blade, and a combined bottle opener and peg style can opener. The tip of the plier arm is roughly flat ground prior to chroming, for use as a flat bladed driver or maybe for prying. That's it!!!

Not one to conquer the world with, but the non-locking blade means this one is going to be legal pretty much most places, and the slipjointed pliers will compe with gripping larger diameters than most multitools. From a collector standpoint, this tool isn't that common and will just become harder to find over time.

Pros:
Slip joint pliers
Legal pretty much everywhere
Forged and chromed plier construction (?)

Cons
Limited tool load
Imprecise plier tips
No sheath
