Anyone carry a flashlight in their back pocket?
on: October 28, 2015, 09:13:49 PM
I sometimes carry a 2-3 layer SAK along the outside seem of my back pocket, with a handkerchief in the same pocket to fill space and keep the SAK upright. I'm thinking this might be a good way to carry a AAA flashlight. Anyone carry a flashlight in their back pocket? The location along the outside seem kind of protects it from sitting etc, but still seems like it might take a bit of a beating so interested if certain brands/models are better suited.

Nope, not me. Front pocket carry, or rule pocket carry at work

Zed did you make that?

I like the back pocket idea. However my gym shorts wouldn't allow it.

I carry a Nitecore MT2a in my back pocket beside a handkerchief and forget it is there. YMMV

Years ago I decided I'd carry my Surefire 6P in my back pocket next to my wallet while working a plain clothes detail. I sat down to take a break and, you guessed it; the light turned on. I ended up with a hole in my pant and a nice burn on my...pride (I still have the scar, and no, chicks don't dig scars on your butt). I stopped carrying any light in my back pockets after that and now I don't even carry my wallet there - everything is up front where I have more control of it:p

No, unless I know I won't be sitting down for a couple of hours at least.

Weird! I carry mine in my side ruler pocket. You are starting to worry me Al. Next thing you gonna say is that the Surge is the multi ever made.
Back to the OP, sounds like an interesting concept, might have to try that if I am wearing regular pants or blue jeans. Just will have to figure where to put my folder at. I keep it clipped to my back pocket with my bandanna.

Carried a Fenix E05 AAA twisty this way last night. Put a lanyard on it. Worked pretty well. Unnoticeable while couch surfing too. Not sure if this is going to stick as a carry method, but it's a possibility.

Backpocket edc i couldn't as i would break it. I always carried mine in a tool belt front pocket when running cables. I could prob do back pocket at work since im standing on a lift for hours at a time.

Don't panic Nate, that's not gonna happen!  :D

My work light is a Quark AA2 Tactical, and rule pocket carry works very well indeed, and is often joined there by a Gerber EAB  :) Off work, I prefer single battery lights, and sometimes just stick to the ones on my keys. If I carry a seperate light, it'll usually be clipped to a pocket. I won't have reliable pockets in my halloween get-up tonight though, so I'll have to get more creative

If I had a 2XAAA I would carry in the back pocket. Since the Lumintop Tool is 1XAAA and the tailcap sticks out a bit I fear it could fall, so I was carring it in the front pocket.

I see the back outside seam to be the best for pen shaped things, as long as they're long enough.

The 2 lights that I have that would be candidates for back pocket carry are my PD32 and XL50.  I can see putting one of these in my back pocket temporarily as I was working.  Most lights I carry are AAA/AA so front pocket carry or key chain carry works best.
