Unfortunately, it didn't end up saving me any money. (lol) I ordered one. I have been eyeing the quartz version of this Infantry watch. Getting the automatic for what would be a reasonable price for the quartz version, well, hard to resist even though I wasn't planning on buying any watches any time soon. Victorinox quality military field watch with sapphire crystal and ETA 2824 (I think) movement. How could I say no?

At least now I'll be able to say I have a SAW (swiss army watch).  I guess every SAK collector should have at least one SAW :D

I have been drooling over the automatic infantry for some time but they are too pricey here. Had they shipped here, I would order one.

I know what you mean. The Victorinox automatics are normally too pricey here, too. I'm tough on watches, so ~ $200 to $250 is about as much I'm willing to spend on a watch. I can get a decent Seiko or Orient automatic in that price range.  So I never even thought seriously about being able to get the automatic in this watch.

Hard to find good pictures of this particular model. Here are some reviews of it with different straps in case someone is considering it:

Should look the same. Although it's possible that the 241586 model might have a brushed stainless case (hard to tell from pics I found of it). Not a problem for me if it is because brushed stainless doesn't show scratches as easily.

As per SAK Guy's requirement  ;), photos have been posted to the What is your latest watch thread: http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,58981.msg1176651.html#msg1176651

Looks great. Definitely an awesome watch for the price. Amazon has raised the price to $252, but still a great deal, IMO.
