Anyone know how to keep the spring working on Surge scissors without having to send them in every time?

Is it just sticking? If so clean the cutting edge and oil the portion where the spring contacts the tool.

Are you sure you're pushing them out until they lock?
Really need pics!

It looks like the lock that locks the scissors can't come up higher and lock the spring that operates the scissors in place. I tried sending pics, but they are too big. I will have to try and compress them. I have the star security bits, but I don't want to void warranty. I suppose I would have to loosen the screw/bolt and add locktight and tighten it back up pushing the spring that operates the scissors up some so the lock spring locks the operating spring in place. The small bead on the back of the spring does not look worn down so I don't think that is the problem.

No. The scissor spring doesn't lock. Only the non spring scissor side locks with the liner lock.

Hard to tell without pics. Is the spring popping out of place when you deploy the scissors? If so then try loctite and tightening.

Use a photo hosting site like photobucket or imgur to post pics here on the forum. Without a pic it will be hard to tell exactly what the problem is.

I might well be wrong as I don't have a Surge (and its quite a while since I last played with one), but in that last pic where the spring isn't doing anything, it looks like it's just because the scissors haven't been pushed right out so the liner lock clicks in. If you do that, does the spring go to the right position or is it still nowhere near where it should be?
I can't see any other issues, but maybe it'll be more obvious to a Surge user

Yeah, when you are deploying the scissors from their closed position (hidden in the MT body), make sure you pull them out all of the way so they are locked open.
Then
try to use the scissors. Not sure if this is your issue, but it may be.
You know that they are correctly opened when you are unable to rotate them back into the multitool body without pressing on the lock. That lock is a little tab located next to the junction of the scissor arm and the multitool body, where the pivot lives.
The scissors only work correctly when they are in the fully open and locked position.

They are fully locked open. Sounds like I just need to tighten the screw/bolt. They get used daily. Thanks for everyone's input. I will try tightening it tonight and let everyone know the results.

Just a thought....
If the scissors are locking fully out, that would suggest the spring section is turning too far when you get the scissors out. It kind of looks like there's contact with the back plate at the top, and a gap lower down. Has that little backplate that they open up against flared out, or would it benefit from being knocked in a bit to reduce overtravel on the spring.... or would that smurf up opening the scissors fully so they lock?

On the inner side of the spring peice, there are 2 knobs. That lay into 2 holes drilled through the scissor.
I wonder if one of the knobs is busted/ground down.
The easiest thing to do is remove the screw and look. The Surge is easy to back together on that end....the inner tools are a pain.

Well... I took the scissors apart....bad news.
The little knock/bead that sits in the bottom notch came out. The notch looks a little worn too. Guess I will have to send them in for warranty. I have a backup Surge I have been modding though. Guess I"lol have to piece it back together till a replacement comes.
