Some years now. I can say devices have improved a lot. Still I mostly build my own setups even there really is no need nowdays. Swiss are making again best stuff to rebuildable atomizers. And chinise are cloning those but again chinese did bring the whole waping stuff to public.

OK, some of the things I got from the documentary.  Seemed to be quite fair and unbiased IMO.  If you can find it on-line I'd recommend watching it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07c6ll4/horizon-20152016-10-ecigarettes-miracle-or-menace

Be careful as to what flavours you use.  Tests show menthol kills more cells than some others for example.  Advice currently is to vary your choice of flavours while tests are being done to see what potential harm the flavourings might do.  Flavours that have been tested and passed as non harmful for consumption might still be harmful when inhaled.

Passive vaping carries 99% less toxins than passive smoke.  Mostly due to the fact that most of the toxins in cigarettes are released due to the combustion, which doesn't happen in the heating of e-cigs.

Nicotine by itself is less addictive than when combined with other chemicals produced in cigarettes.  So it looks like e-cigs are far less addictive than cigarettes.

Vapers will show some airway inflammation compared to non-smokers.

The vapers in the test group were consuming about 50% of their previous nicotine levels after 4 weeks.  Acrolein levels (one of chemicals known to increase the risk of cancer) were vastly reduced.

Conclusion is that, in the short term, vaping is far far healthier than smoking, but opinion is divided as to the long term effects simply because they've not been in use for long enough for there to have been long term studies.

Stick with it buddy. :tu:  My inexpert advice is to go with the strongest e-liquid you can find and use it the moment you feel the need for a cigarette, or even before.  It seems it's hard to get the same amount of nicotine from vaping as you get from a cigarette.  As far as I know, and I have looked into this, the only real chance you have of giving yourself nicotine poisoning from vaping is if you start drinking the e-liquid.

I know the common advice is to try the tobacco flavours first but I personally preferred the fruit flavours straight away, so you might want to give some of them a go if you haven't already.

One of the ingredients that makes the juices "buttery" and smooth should not be inhaled. I think it's like diactyl or something to that effect. But I don't know, I just catch headlines from time to time  ;)

Cheers to everyone that has quit smoking because of Vaping  :salute:

Thanks for sharing Gareth. I have one cigarette left. I'm gonna see if I can get by with just vaping. Cigarettes just go so good with coffee.  :-\

One thing that seems to have helped me is watching YouTube videos about it and the hundreds of devices out there. People collect these things like multis. I do want to step up my device already, but part of quitting smoking for me is the money saved.

Just a tip from a non-smoker, I really hate being stuck in a train compartment or similar with a vaper who thinks he isn't smoking and therefore can do as he pleases. It is far better than smoking, of course, but it's still something best not shared with passersby. :) (The smell is not pleasant to me (a view shared by every non-smoker I have asked), and even if it's better than cigarette smoke, I still have no interest in sharing. :) ) I wouldn't start eating Valdeón in a public place either, even though I love the aroma.

Not meaning to be a downer, just mentioning people may get dirty looks even if everybody knows perfectly well they aren't smoking.

It's a perfectly fair point mate.  Personally I don't vape anywhere where smoking isn't allowed, nor in front of kids, nor anywhere it might be irritating to others.  It's my habit and I do my best to keep it to myself.

I've not tried a melon flavour yet, but then I don't much like melon. :D  My "go to" flavours are banana and lime sorbet.  The banana is readily available from my local shop but the lime sorbet I can only get from the internet.

Cheers to those who have managed to slow or quit smoking.  I am still seeing a lot of vaping and often wonder if it is people trying to curb/quit cigarettes or just vaping.

Its amazing how much "smoke" is exhaled out after a toke.  I don't recall if I smelled anything particular coming from those vaping.  I did see some guy wearing one around his neck on a lanyard recently.

I've done 6 weeks without a cigarette  with an e cig and I'm only using 3 mg juice now but I don't want to become  reliant on vaping my plan is to loose that in another few weeks or less.

"Everything is vapor. Except love"

Thrasymboulas

Perhaps there are just a couple MTO members to understand this, and they probably speak Greek. It comes from a Greek movie but  it  became a popular proverb, everything is vapor and everything dissolves, except love.

I made up a carry thingy in leather for when I'm shooting HFT.  Lots of getting up and down for prone shots means I have dropped my vape out of my pocket a few times.  Having it on a lanyard keeps it convenient and secure.

Thought I’d bring this back to life. This is my second Argus by voopoo. The previous was a Argus pro. I didn’t realise I had ordered the non pro version but never mind. 22 quid is a decent price.

Interesting.  A few years back I was seeing a lot of folks vaping.  I'd see clouds of smoke coming from car windows and folks walking on the streets.  Now I don't see much at all.

Vaping is becoming more and more restricted in various nations, often as a result of Big Tobacco sticking their boot in and buying up the very small vape companies.
There's also a LOT of misinformation being bleated around, that gets believed and used to legislate against vapes.

For once, I'm lucky in that I live in the country that is one of the least restrictive of something. The British medical industry seems almost universal in its support of vaping and we're still pretty free to do it, despite adopting every one of the dumb European TPD regulations.

You still see massive clouds sometimes, especially on the roads, but a lot of vapers have gotten over that stage and you're more likely to see smaller devices. The latter also use much less juice, so it's better on the wallet in these tough times.
