Not sure how to vote.... yes, I know I'm supposed to click one of the options, but that's not what I mean  :pok: :P

I missed the early Leatherman timeline, and the first I ever heard about the brand was just over 20 years ago, when a mate of mine wanted us all to chip in to buy him an OG Wave for his birthday. We did, and I thought it was interesting, but it took another decade and a bit to see the value of multitools for myself.

Had I witnessed the start of the evolution, I might consider the PST the most iconic. I didn't. Also, everyone and their dog copied that format. As it is, from my first exposure to the brand, and also from the few copies it has, the Wave is what strikes me as an iconic Leatherman.

However, for what it's worth, I still consider it a dumb poll  :rofl:

So that's three options there. Take your pick  :D

Has to be PST/PSTII. I have accumulated 11 PST's & 7 PSTII's, mostly from flea markets. They are certainly the easiest to find.

Does anyone have any idea how many PST's LM made?

I voted for the Wave because it's recognizable by the new generation as well.

Interesting that there are some votes for the Micra. I put that in there as an afterthought.

 Lets hear the reason for your vote .


I voted for the PST  with it's classic shape I think that is what comes to mind for most people when they think of a Leatherman MT.

I voted Rebar because it has the spirit of the old but improved a bit. IMHO

I was thinking Wave because of sheer numbers sold but had to vote PST.

When I think of iconic what comes to mind is history and establishment of the brand.

I wanted to vote wave but voted rebar  :facepalm: can a mod change my vote? I got my threads mixed up. But for this generation I would say the wave. It really is one of Leatherman's best current offering. I prefer the rebar, but I have had three waves and they really are good.

I voted PST, with the Wave being a close second.  Really, I've only been into multitools for 3+ years at this point, so it's tough for me to think of any as iconic.  Still, when I think of Leatherman, I think of the classic PST type tool, and not the Wave type.

  • Granddaddy of modern Multitools
  • You can fix a FIAT 600 with it
  • "Everyone and their dog copied that format" (50ft-Trad) - This is what iconic means to me: Everyone sees it as a benchmark and tries to reach it.
