Doesn't look ripe yet. I have a very prolific mango tree that I planted in my back yard, but it won't produce until summertime.

My tree is a hybrid variety developed by an old friend who is no longer with us. As far as I know there's only 2 or 3 trees like mine left since the old man's family cut the rest down after he died. My variety's skin is orange and yellow when they are ripe, and while they are only about the size of a baseball they are very juicy. I peel them and eat them like a peach while standing over the sink so I don't make a mess. I have about 5 pounds of slices in the freezer, left over from last year, and they are great for making smoothies.

What do you think about shipping a graft to Texas? it could be fun to help keep your old friends work alive, so to speak.Id have to actually grow a mango plant first, but I think i can handle that.

I planted my tree from a seed, over 20 years ago and it is huge now.
