If you read the package closely, it says it contains no nitrates or nitrites except those occurring naturally in celery juice.

Hmm.

Who knew that you could preserved bacon with celery juice?  The magic of Mother Nature.

Day 21

A dog may be happiest when serving his master, and so too a SOG PowerAssist is happiest when emancipating another MT from its postal package.

SOG PowerAssist and Leatherman Core.

Sadly, the Core was found to have an 1" crack.  I'm contacting the eBay seller - who I do not think was trying to hose me, because the crack is only visible when opening the pliers -  though its not really worth returning.  I paid $34.95 shipped for it.  I could send it to Leatherman under warranty, and I'm guessing they would send me an ST300 replacement.

Update on the Core:  the seller was very nice and offered to refund my money and pay for shipping.  I will probably keep it, though, and turn it into an ST 300.

Getting a replacement from Leatherman is a no brainer, but you'll still need to find a Core for the collection.

Yeah, I do own a stainless and BO Core.   :salute:  Its one of my favorites in the Leatherman lineup.  Very clean, straightforward design. This last one was a spontaneous purchase.

You might want to try some - though I recommend against Shiitake mushrooms alone, as the stems are somewhat fibrous.  But regular white mushrooms, or even better a variety pack of shrooms, would be quite nice.

I met someone who is convinced that dried mushroom capsules cured his leukemia, and Dr. Joel Fuhrman maintains that even the small consumption of mushrooms has powerful health benefits.  Who knows.  But they are cheap, easy to prepare and yummy, so why not.  I also take the capsules.

A few final thoughts on 31 days with the SOG PowerAssist:

First, its a pretty darn good MT - no doubt.  It opens smoothly. Very smoothly.  The compound pliers are awesome.  I'm very manly, as it readily apparent, and the compound pliers increase my manliness.  So that's a good thing.  The main blade and serrated blade deploy easily, and are my most used tools.  The drivers and other internal tools function as they should.

Every MT has its faults, and the PowerAssist is no different.  For me, the number of steps required to deploy the inside tools is a downer.  And the unlock studs on the main and serrated blades are sharp on my finger.  I don't care for the "piano keys" locks, and would prefer one solitary lock like you find on the Supertool 300.  I never used the V-cutter.

But overall, the PowerAssist is a fine MT and I could make it through the day nothing else. Er, plus a flashlight, a pistol, mini Sharpie, smart phone  . . .   .

Thanks to the great Obi for piloting this adventure, and to everyone else who participated.   :salute:
