Just bumping this in case anyone needs it.

I will most likely be doing a Spyderco Ambitious full disassemble/assemble and a Schrade OTF full disassemble/assemble soon.

Reading this has got me wondering how similar a Spyderco Native would be in reassembly. I bought pimped out blue anodized screw set for the knife. After the change out the knife hasn't been the same at all.

Maybe this stellar tutorial could help? Thanks for the bump Capt!

I wish Spyderco gave a more technical answer to your cut out question. If you don’t mind me taking a guess along with the other comments provided I would venture a comment that possibly it was done intentionally for gradual wear and tear. Eventually that lock would seat in deeper.

I mention this because Demko gave that reason for his Triad lock. It wasn’t a perfect fit as well but it was intentional.

Either way great knife. Thanks for the photos.

Quite late to the thread, but the rounded corners are for stress relief, and the step above the pivot hole is for pocket lint so they don't prevent lock bar engaging (no seriously, a ball of pocket lint will actually prevent the lock bar from fully engaging).
