Questions about a sak mod
on: February 07, 2016, 07:44:41 PM
I've been thinking about changing my edc a bit. What I would like is a bladeless sak with scissors, saw and metal file/saw. The other option would be the same but with an addition of cybertool screwdriver with bits.

I suppose I would have to make scales myself as there is no corkscrew in this configuration?

Which model should I buy for this mods and could I get an awl as a back tool in this configuration?

What would be the cost if I would have one made for my by one of our professionals? I know there is no official price list for mods but it would be helpful if someone would hint what the price range would be? Are we talking about 50 - 100€, 100 - 200€ or what? I have no idea what a price for such work is...:D

For bladeless ones I go with Ti scales since the back scale wont have a cutout anyhow.  CT ones are expensive since something like the starter donor CT34 is going to be around $100.  Then to do the work, plus Ti, parts msc, its a couple hundred easily.  If you dont need a CT based mod though its much cheaper.

Here's a bladeless that Ive done a few of, CT34 minus opener layer and blade layer.

Here's a very simple 2 layer bladeless.

Here's a 3 layer bladeless.

And one more in a polished finish.

You need Ranger for your donor.

Those are really nice!

But I was hoping I could keep the scales with all the associated tools. But as far as I can see there is no chance I could do that without a knife layer.  :-\
