I carried my wave in my pocket until the regular blade came slightly opened and poked a hole in my leg. It went back to sheath before blood and sweat could rust it. I could see where it could rust easily if you are working hard outside in jeans in this heat immersed in ball soup.
I'll say it before some of the Swiss users get on here You could just buy a Swisstool and this wouldn't happen blah blah blah I haven't really had a LM rust but as I have said in other threads about rust me being around mortar and such may clog a tool sometimes but also sort of powder coats it
Hmm.. I still think it's a bit disappointing that the OP's Leatherman rusted from just sweat and/or humidity. Is the steel used in LM much harder than the Vic steel?

I wouldn't even go that far. I think it has more to do with Vic putting a mirror polish on their tools. Of course, I've had SAKs rust too. Not badly, mind, but rust none the less. Especially in the nail nicks. Oh and steel composition probably has something to do with it. Some steels are more rust resistant than others.Leo
You guys should buy a Tuf Cloth and wipe the entire tool down.. I always do this to my LM tools and I have never had a rust issue.. http://www.sentrysolutions.com/TufClothkew.shtml
Or, maybe just eat a lot of McDonalds and hope your pores start pumping out the oil
The polish theory ought to be easy to test.
