I have a feeling quite a lot of people will buy extras of the Pioneer X as damascus editions have proven to be a very lucrative investment for future resale

The past few limited editions did not go up in value by that much, and were available for less than their original price in many cases. I got a few, from eBay, for a lot less than what they were selling at the dealers. The only ones that have shot up in price were the Damascus pioneers. I wonder if the new ones will follow the trend of the old Damascus pioneers, or, the trend of the last few limited editions..

I held out on the 2015 RangerWood Damascus and it ended up being A$100-A$200 less than the original release prices when I got it two months ago. I will probably pick up a 2016, but will sit back and wait for everything to calm down first.At the other end, it seems most 2010/2011/2012 models are hard to get at a reasonable price now. I have more or less given up on the 2010 and 2011. Wondering if the 2013 will soon be harder to acquire as well.

I have a friend who carries and uses a Damascus wooden Explorer from 2013.I dont think the Damascus knives are intended for use.
The Victorinox Damascus blades are SS so using them should be as carefree as using a regular SS blade. They are also harder that the regular Victorinox SS blades. However, there is the possibility that after sharpening and using them the Damascus pattern will not be so nice looking (you need a special process to achieve it again).I have a few and have no desire to use them.
