I can't see a practical application for this unless you've filed your lanyard attachment off by mistake  :facepalm: but it's a nice simple, quick and most importantly, secure lanyard method.

Oh, I can see reasons. Some older versions don't have the lanyard attachment. The split rings take much more time to remove. The lanyard attachment makes it awkward to reach some backspring tools. SAKs looks much more smooth minus the lanyard attachment.
