Belt Pouch for Pioneer-X
on: April 01, 2016, 12:32:46 PM
Looking for a quality belt pouch for a Pioneer-X/Farmer sized SAK.  I don't think I have a preference on how it latches/closes.

I would prefer something that has a loop that the belt goes through, versus something that clips onto the belt.

Thanks in advance.

Here's a nice one.

Had three of these and still have two, one in this "medium" size and another "large" size. The leather is thick, stiff and good quality. Stitching is also good on all of mine. Oddly, there is no "small' size. The belt loop on the oldest one finally gave out after about 20 years that included some bouts of hard use (the other two are much newer). If you put the Pioneer X in with the scales facing front and back in the medium size, its depth matches the side-to-side thickness of the Pioneer X about right. However, the space inside is much wider than than the height from back spring to the top of the blades. The consequence is the knife sliding back and forth inside some which may be OK for many. Be aware that the snap is brass and the rivet on the back of it with the same diameter as the snap is left bare on the inside of the pouch. It will eventually scratch the scales. My old Woodsman lived in a Zermatt for quite a few years and has an obvious circular abrasion with some depth caused by the large diameter brass rivet. If you want to prevent that, you'll need to cover that brass rivet on the inside with something.

I've been looking for a belt or pocket pouch for my Pioneer X, one that matches its dimensions better, and haven't found one yet.

+1 on this evaluation!   :tu:

Totally agree with Jalind on this.  I've also been looking for a belt sheath for the Pioneer and haven't found an acceptable solution yet...the medium Zermatt, while a great answer for 3- and 4-layer cellidor SAKs, it's not a good solution for Pioneers.
