Sorry for the necro, but I've read this thread 10 times, and I can't tell where the donor backspring that Harry modded with the new hole came from. What knife was this backspring from before?

You mean the one that became the scissor spring in the new Alox knife? It was originally a pre-hook 91mm scissor spring.

Is that older style at all common on the used market?

To be honest, ive never seen it before. I dont think Alox modding really took off until Serval figured out that Solo backsprings worked well for scissors. I think it had to do with the fact the average consumer  would consider a gap from the 91mm spring "unacceptable" for sale. The solo spring fixed that, opening up demand for that mod, leading to most mods currently on the market having a Solo spring.
