Maxpedition Fatty Organizer
on: April 06, 2016, 04:24:51 PM
Thanks to a very generous member I am now the proud owner of a Maxpedition Fatty Organizer in olive.

I have to be honest, I wasn't familiar with this particular model until it arrived but I have to say that I am digging it quite a bit so far.  I'm a big fan of Maxpedition stuff already, and have several bags, packs etc, and have owned more over the years.

As usual with a new bag, the first thing I did was swap out the knotted paracord zipper pulls and replace them with these small glow in the dark ones I bought on eBay a while back.

But, getting back to the bag itself, it has a good sized mesh pocket on the outside front of the bag and MOLLE attachments and a handle stitched onto the back.  Also on the front is a velcro spot for a patch if you are into that kind of thing.

Open it up and inside you discover why they call it an "organizer."  On the inside front panel is a large pocket for things like a passport or notebook, a small loop for attaching a carabiner or something and a hook for keys.  There are also two webbing strips for things like pens, flashlights, SAKs or other small items that you want to keep handy.

There is a similar pair of webbing strips inside the rear panel, only rotated 90 degrees to the one in the first panel to allow for different shaped items.  There is also a zippered pocket in the back panel for documents, money or anything else you feel like you would like to store back there.

And, as if that wasn't already a lot for a fairly small pack, there is also an elastic loop in the hinge that is perfectly sized for a small flashlight, and enough length for something up to the size of a 2xAA Mini Mag Lite.

Being a Maxpedition product, I expect the Fatty Organizer to be around for a long time.  I have been using and abusing my Tactical Operator bag for many years now and it could still pass for almost new.  I know some folks have reported issues with Maxpedition products and service in the past, but I have yet to encounter a bad one.

I'll be sure to post more pics once I get it loaded up with some gear.  :D

Leave the dents as they are- let your belongings show their scars as proudly as you do yours.

Of the few EDC organizers I have (micro, regular and fatty), I like the fatty the most.

I use mine to carry my daily off-person EDC stuff, and then transfer it between bags as neccesary.

You can fit a lot of cr@p in it...

This one has been in use for about 4.5 years, and its just about broken-in now !

Sure does fit a lot in it.  I like how you left some open space.

Thanks Aloha... The trick with packing these organisers I find is to use the spaces near the edges. The two halves should fit together like a puzzle, hence the open spaces... If you just fill all the loops, everything tends to sit in the centre, and then does not close nicely. This is only a problem if you fill it to capacity.
