Unusual alox model
on:

Hello everyone!
I recently acquired this unusual 93mm old cross model and I was wondering if someone might have some information about it. As far as I can tell it does not match anything on SAKWiki or the old dealer catalogs.
Any ideas?
Here is the relevant page from SAKWiki:

Mh first immediate thought was "its a Pioneer Rancher!" But the Pruning blade is in the wrong spot, and theres a can opener instead of the awl.... possibly a mod?
Great find either way!

I have compared the rivets to other old cross models in my possession, and they appear to be factory - not modded. The pruner blade itself is quite worn, but also seems to not be a modified tool.
I received this note from Jason W. Dillman (VSAKCS):
"Elinox stamped knives where a less expensive European only design, at one point there was an option for custom tool configurations ordered by specific companies. Since I cant find anything from the old catalogs that match this, I would guess its probably one of those old special orders."
If this is indeed a one-off production, I reserve the name Pioneer Duo for this model.

I really like this configuration--should be something offered today. I'd rather lose the awl than the full openers layer (even though the 93mm awl is my favorite design of the awl), when in most cases the can opener is lost for the pruner blade.

Just to follow up, I received word this morning from the man himself Mr. Robert Elsener:
"We went trough all our catalogues and our Victorinox museum... nothing"
"It was not a stock item... probably specially made for a customer!"

Yes, awesome as in awesome find and awesome Mr. Elsener takes the time to not only listen to his customers, but answering a question from a "guy like you and I", too.
