Quick question about the 84m/91mm combo tool
on: April 11, 2016, 08:12:07 PM
Went looking to see if the 84mm combo tool (such as from a Bantam) would fit in the 91mm frame (where small blade goes), or if only 91mm combo tools will work correctly in that spot. SAKWiki doesn't touch on the subject (i plan on updating it once I have my answer). I know they look the same, but I do not know if they are interchangable between the two frames.

Thanks guys.

You can use an 84 one on a 91 but it needs a bit of tweaking to work right.  If you dont give the spring a little extra bend the snap on the main blade is weaker.
PM me or email sakmodder [at] gmail . com if you are looking for custom SAK work.

A Compact with a phillips screwdriver, I already have all the parts except a combo tool. I'll probably just end up buying a couple waiters for parts on fleabay.

Syph, whats the best way to tweak the spring with hand tools? Will clamps and a hammer work, or am I finally going to have to give in and get a vice?

Yes get a vice. You could do it with clamps and a small fulcrum of wood or metal as long as the clamps are strong enough.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I can offer you a complete used Compact, if that helps? I´d make it a nice priced item, but shipping alone is about 6,- €.
