Wow, that sounds interesting I would love to join that project (but sorry, I'm in IT).
It is a bit difficult to advice with so little information (How many tools will you produce, what is the tool load, what tool size are you aiming for). However, between all the copyrights and know-how involved in such a Project I would like to suggest two alternative routes.
1) Customizing an Existing ToolInstead of creating a whole new tool, just create the missing part to fit the chosen frame. Between 3D printing and using an existing tool design this should be fairly simple. E.g. I'm working on a
utility-blade holder for an LM Wave/Charge.
As not all tools are as easy to mod, I would suggest to have a look at the Gerber MP-400 frame and the SOG PPP.
2) Factory CustomBasically, the same as above but contact the manufacturer and ask if they would do your custom.
