New backpack
on: April 25, 2016, 05:25:32 PM
So, I was looking for something that would act as my "range" bag; carrying various gloves, hat, tools, pellets, coffee flask, snacks, waterproofs etc etc.  After a bit of digging around on Amazon and Ebay I found something that I think will do the job nicely.

Not only did I get the backpack, but it also came with a couple of side pouches and a "versipack" style thing with shoulder/waist strap.

All together they make up a good sized pack with plenty of storage and organisation.  OK, so while it's not up to the same quality of material that Maxpedition might use, it's really not bad either.  All the zips are beefy and smooth, all the stitching seems fine.  All this for £15?  I'm pretty impressed.

That looks like a steal for £15!

Very nice! Looks like there is enough room in there for an overnighter.

Oh, there definitely is.  In fact it's a little bigger than I was banking on, but not too bad.

I've never seen one quite like that, looks good.  Any particular purpose or just an every day bag?

Believe it or not, that's not a backpack! It's a hydro bladder pack, I just need something for small stuff, a bunch of edc junk, I have a small sling but it's bothering me, pulling on my neck and having to take my hat off lift it over my head to put it on or take it off everytime to sit sucks! And I'd kinda like a flat front so I can put patches on, and I like the Molle on the sides so I can hook stuff up..

That is a very nice looking bag Gareth!  I've been on the hunt for something very much like that so I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on with it!

MadP- sling bags are meant to be rotated so you don't have to take your hat off.  Just pull it under your arm when you sit.  Also, all the ones I've had have a release on the main strap, so if you do want to take it off but not go over your head you can just unbuckle it.

So far so good anyway.  It's duties are pretty light though. House-car-shooting range-car-house, repeat.  :D  It's the organisation that it offers that has really been it's big advantage so far.

I love Maxpedition, and own a ton of them, but their 1000D material is almost too heavy and stiff.  So thinner is not necessarily a bad thing.  Especially when you are saving a bunch of money.
