Please help identify this possible vintage SAK
on: June 12, 2016, 08:32:09 AM
Hi all. Greetings from Capetown south Africa.  I'm new here and am a keen sak enthusiast.can someone help identify this knife I got from my late father who in turn inherited it also... the strange logo on the scale is actually metal almost stamped into the scale...

Regards
Anton

Welcome!
Your treasure is indeed vintage- the long nail file/spike is a good indicator.
The stamp shows Saint Christopher, protector of those who are traveling.
Wonderful knife, definitely pre-1975!

... tried to find your model, seems to be a 60's "Cadillac".
Great knife, as seen in the sosak-catalogue here:

Welcome!

That's an awesome knife, with a great set of tools. I often wonder why they don't still offer the technician's screwdriver in place of the small blade.  That's a good set of tools there for any emergency repair.

Thanks guys for all the info! appreciated.
Im gonna clean up that knife a bit... theres a bit of "rust" on the small file...
gonna polish up the blades and tools.. it so needs some oil.

missing a toothpick.. already ordered.

the scales seem to have "seperated" from the knife slightly... i wonder if i can clamp it back using some protective cloth and a vice perhaps..

as for ther scales itself, I was thinking of wet flatting them with 2000 or 1500 grit or so... and then polishing them nicely. obviously there will be
some "battle scars" that will remain (deeper scratches etc) but overall it should come up nice.,..

Simon Bern must have been a knife shop which had Vic-knives especially engraved- I'll see what info I can get.

About your scales- maybe this could be interesting?
