Leatherman Micra Question

Hi....new member to the forum with a question on an older Micra that I have an opportunity to purchase.  The Micra in question is still in the store blister pack and has the year 1996 at the bottom with the word Leatherman.  My question is two part . Are the older Micras of equal or better quality and does anyone know if the little knife blade was 420HC back then? Thanks in advance!

a smarter member with a better answer will be along soon,  but that sounds like a cool find!  the Micra is a great tool.

+1 Welcome and yes indeed a very cool find.  All the Micras I have are older as well but from my understanding the quality of the newer ones are on par with the older ones :cheers: I think the steel has always been 420HC in them :think: and still is today :tu: I would grab it up as that was the first year of Micra production and will definitely be an early date code and that in itself is a very good thing for collectors and people like me :D

What do you guys think about the Micra with the green plastic cover? I am interested for its cool look, but a bit wary about the plastic which I think will eventually dry and crack. I have 2 SS Micra already, so the one in question is for collecting.

I would say if it is for collecting then the plastic will be fine and hold up for a long time but if exposed to the elements and/or heat and abuse I would say that the plastic would crack over time :tu:
