Smiley Faces- How to insert?

Hey Folks,
within a thread when replying, how does one insert one or any of the smiley faces?

I see them just above the writing box, but how do I use them???

the simple smiley face above, I simply typed the old "full colon and parenthesis" trick.

it was Windows Edge. I am now using Windows Explorer and it works.
