The Super Super Tinker.
on: July 18, 2016, 02:09:23 PM
I bought this off of eBay back in 2010. I could never find any information on this, or any online photos. It is a Super Tinker on steroids. No back springs mean the tools tend to flop around unless flat on a surface. All tools fold up nicely except for the bottle opener, which is thicker at its tip, preventing it to fully seat home inside the knife. This is done to include a small threaded hole located center on the end of the cap lifter. No clue what went there, or how this huge advertizing knife was displayed. Quite different from the animated displays, as I do believe this was meant to be a static display. Quite heavy at that.

For size comparison, I have included a 91mm Picnicker.

Holy crap, put a backspring on that knife and the blade closing could probably cut someone clean in two.

Made from metal. The blades are chrome plated over steel, looks to be aluminium scales and spacers.

Yeah - I thought it looked like real metal - As you say it must weigh a ton.

I cant get over how accurate it is - What a shame you could not find out more about it - Even basics like did Vic even make it??

What is interesting is we can date it to the 1950's .... Why ?
- New can opener came in in 1951
- Exposed rivets and old awl went out in about 1961

Assuming it was made with the same features/tools as the curent SAKs around at that time - And was not a 'retro' build !!

...And if it was made in the 50's - It is in b100dy good shape!!

And it has all the other features for that time eg Single spring scissors, square Phillips with nail file, clip point small blade.....
But does the SD have the wire stripper on it? It should !!  :D  :o
And where are the tp and tw - Surely they are a mandatory feature in every SAK !!
