Best Fitting Leather Sheath for Crunch?
on: July 29, 2016, 08:31:17 AM
What is the best fitting leather sheath for the Crunch?

Don't want any nylon parts, want a good, sturdy leather sheath for the Leatherman Crunch. Anyone have any experience in this area as where abouts to get such an item?

Am seriously considering getting a leather sheath for the Charge TTI as well. Those nylon sides look too ratty, makes one want to pack too much extra junk in there too. Sure a nice side pouch that would fit a Leatherman Serac S2 would be cool, but that's about it.

Crunch and Charge both have their own dedicated leather sheaths from leatherman.
I have both of them and they are good.
Most Leatherman sheaths are pretty bad, but these two I consider good.
It takes a lot of time to get them bendy and soft, but that will happen in time.

Neither one of these are perfect fits, but aside from the basic black leather box sheath that it comes with, you can try the OG Wave sheath (a little wiggle room up/down):

The Spirit sheath works too (better fit if you put it in this orientation):

When I carry the Crunch, which admittedly isn't all that often, I put it in a small SOG nylon sheath. But I tend to prefer nylon over most leather sheaths (the Victorinox ones being the exception).
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

The old school Pulse leather sheath was also the original leather Crunch sheath but they come up very rarely :o

I use the leather ones with nylon stretchy sides for my works carries nowadays  I think the same one that is for the Rebar will work with the Crunch

I like the little pocket in the back of it for my bit adapter :tu:

How well built is the Vic sheath? I like the build-look of it. Is the belt loop quite secure? Snap closure? Wonder where to get one without a metal clip...

Have another leather sheath floating around here somewhere, though swiped the one I put the swapped-parts Rebar in. Think this might of been the original Super Tool or PST II sheath... the Crunch slid right on in. Though I'm partial to brown leather sheaths, and a sucker for a classic looking Leatherman sheaths just the same.

Will put this one to use unless I can find a sexier brown leather sheath. :D

Put on like 3 coats of Pecard's Leather Dressing and that classic sheath still looks chewed up.

There you go, that's the business right there    :tu:

Love the old sheaths, Oh how I wish Leatherman would bring back real Leather sheaths and not that bonded crap they have been using for years now.

There's no clip, the belt loop is riveted.

Closure is hook and loop, there's enough of it to be fairly secure. I can't speak as to the longevity on the order of years, but I do find it one of the most pleasant and comfortable sheaths to belt carry. Particularly important to me is that the leather is all treated around the edges so it's smooth, not sharp, and it doesn't dig into my gut. (Unlike the cheap black box sheaths Leatherman tools come with these days.) They're about $15 on eBay.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.
