Most expensive collectible?
on: August 07, 2016, 04:17:37 PM
So now that you guys got me into SAK,   what is the most expensive / prestigious one in terms of collectible?

I mean one having belonged to some president or high level officers for instance

Not that I'll be able to afford it but who knows if i stumble upon it on a garage sale!!

I'm pretty sure it would be a Model 1891 Soldier.

Ouch the gold Climber is pretty ugly ! Was it made for Dubai customers ? Wonder who can buy that.

The 1890 SAK is interesting very far looking from current models
Funny enough, I as a non connaisseur, would have taken it for a pale Victorinox copy !!

That Climber is just plated... it's not that expensive now and never will be...

My money's on the Wenger Giant, goes between 1000 to 4000 USD and the Victorinox Damascus ones: 2010 goes for around 3500 USD and 2012 for 1000 USD.

Other knives that will always cost a pretty penny:
1891 Soldier
Wenger Porsche
Victorinox Tiffany
Victorinox Titanium mods
Wenger Tahara
Victorinox MOP Accountant
Victorinox Swiss Shark/Walther GAKs
Montejano Alox Mods
Wenger Lithos
Wenger Dynasty

What else did I miss, guys?

Just about any pre-WWI knife.

Does anyone have any of the gas chromatography SAKs? They cost a pretty penny.

I've been trying to find a link, but as I'm in China, the international internet is throttled to early nineties speeds and I get region specific results from the sites I seem to remember seeing it on. I'll have to dig it out when I get back to the UK in a few days. I remember it looked like a Vic, but was branded by a manufacturer of scientific equipment.

Taking a wild guess here, but at $70,000 I think the diamond-studded Victorinox USB stick I saw at the museum in Brunnen is probably the most expensive collectible (is it the most desirable? I would say no, but maybe that's just me  ;)).
