This silly sausage managed to eat 40 knives and not die. Which is a uniquely moronic achievement.
From the execrable Daily Mail:
"An Indian man has undergone life-saving surgery after swallowing 40 metal knives - because he liked the way they tasted.
Jarnail Singh, 42, was admitted to The Corporate Hospital in Gurdaspur, India, a few days ago with complaints of abdomen pain and weakness.
A team of surgeons were astonished when they discovered he had swallowed not one, not two, but 40 knives over the last two months because he liked the way they tasted..."

Finger lickin' good...

I really hope he has access to the mental healthcare he needs.  Sad.

Wow! Stomach acid can really ruin a carbon knife. If he had swallowed 40 stainless knives, he may not have had the GI problems :-)
Total nut case, hope he gets some mental health care (and some good quality knives).

about 30 years ago I saw a TV show about a guy who ate an entire bicycle, but it turns out he cut it into tiny pieces and ate it over a long period of time (aka CHEATING, I'm guessing he pretty much smurfed it all out easily).

This poor knife guy tho.  Yikes. That's an uncomfortable knife to have in you even when closed. He should be swallowing Classics.

Seems like the guy is OK? He's the celebrity of his area now I suppose.

He's gonna take a lot of ribbing tho, goes out to eat at a restaurant, asks for utensils. "We don't serve appetizers here."  "..ok here's a spork...DON'T EAT IT"

So that's the secret of the oxide coating on those Swisstools...

They're coated to make them easier to swallow. ;)

I will have to remember this the next time I read a knife review.

Good price,  great steel,  excellent grips... but how does it taste?

  • With every mistake we must surely be learning
Arghh I'm sick reading this. How come a person could swallow 40 knives?

The condition of that poor man is called "pica" - the underlying conditions are typically schizophrenia/OCD/epilepsy, or it could be "unconscious specific apettite"-drive towards a mineral-rich "food".

Just thinking out loud - if it was only strong craving for iron-containing objects and one's reason was at least partially preserved, one would not swallow open blades... but probably find a way to ingest less dangerous form of iron.  So probably that man is facing serious mental health issues... As NetsNJ said, we hope he really has access to the mental healthcare he needs.
