Sheath Options for Leatherman Wave
on: October 08, 2009, 09:50:37 PM
I just got the Wave and really like it but don't like the $6 sheath much.

1st, it has these tabs that make it hard to pull it out (I guess I could cut these off). Not sure why they are there.
2nd, it is just cheap looking to me as well.
3rd, I requires the belt to go through. Not very convenient for me.

So what are my options? I would like the following:
1. Be able to carry it horizontally. (both horizontal and vertical would be nice, like a BB holster allows but is not absolutely neccesary)
2. Proably would like a snap cover of some sort. Just depends I guess.
3. Kydex or leather would be ok. Don't really want nylon.
4. No bold markings.

I have done alot of searching but just have not found much of anything.

Go to your local police supply or gun shop and buy a mag. pouch . They come in a variety of sizes , Blackhawk makes a good one .

So. The black holster that comes with the most recent wave, it isnt leather is it? It seems really cheap and fake (unfortunately). What's the material and durability for someone using it daily?

Thanks

If it's one of this type, I wouldn't put much trust in it;

This type is pretty good for a newer LM sheath and seem to hold up pretty well. Still bonded leather not real cowhide like the old school sheaths.

Yes it is that one. Frowny face...

I really like the fit for my rebar and light. But yeah it feels cheap, like stated in your thread. And yeah, leatherman what the hay man, you used to make such amazing sheaths?

Like I said. Like the fit, hope the finish lasts...

Been using this "leather" sheath from Leatherman for one year now. Came with charge. I really like the snap. One year of heavy use and it still works. The color is starting to rub off and the elastic parts are in bad shape on the corners. Been good enough, might even last another year.
