How do I explain this to LM?
on: September 19, 2016, 12:10:39 AM
Back earlier in the summer, my grandfather hired a guy to help do some harder jobs, even though I was competent.  Unfortunately, that same guy was hard on our tools. First of all, he broke a fiberglass handled hammer. Secondly, he broke my ST300, and snapped one of the jaws right off the pliers. Should have made him cough up the $30 the tool cost me.  Also, it seems the lock on the handle with the plain edged blade is a little loose--which it's been that way since new.

So, how exactly do I explain that issue to LM on the warranty form?

Tell them it's broken and to fix or replace.

They will send you a new ST.

This warranty covers only the original/primary owner and does not cover abuse ... or unreasonable use of your Leatherman product.

I've never had to prove that I was the original owner. Worst that can happen is they send it back to you and you're out the shipping cost. But more than likely they will take care of you. Keep the explanation to a min. No need to put all that, just state the problems, and get insured shipping.

No you dont have to.  You only tell what the problems are but you don't need to tell why while they won't ask.  Not even the international distributors here.
