I've pound a pic in this thread that seems to indicate that the combo tool and scissors option is at least feasible:http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=39953.0(Image removed from quote.)That would fantastic actually - would consider putting up with the width if it gave me scissors on my Cybertool, though am still more inclined to try to go for the slimmer option with just the bit driver and Combo tool layer...

The large blade will still be in the same position even with the combo tool...

But I'd still have the knife access problems. So the other option you're proposing is to have layers in this order, right : Combo tool/knife layer, scissors, bit driver - then I'd have better access to the main blade and a more useful tool selection (for me), though would be a little bulkier however that may be the best option, assuming it's not a problem to have the bit driver right next to the scales?

Same large blade, and backsprings...
Having just the bit driver next to the blades or combo-tool blade will still give you the same nail nick access as your existing CT29 although thinner, if your going for 2 layers or 3 layers (with scissors). The picture on the same thread (the serrated blade mod and spidey pic) will give you a better idea...

Or is that going to present access problems for the scissors?

Random thought: If it is possible to fit a small blade into the scissor layer, one might be able to build a two layer "impotent cybercompact" by dropping the large blade and combotool alltogether?*runs and hides* -Tom
I suppose if you are willing to make a custom backspring it might work, but none of the stock springs (beides the standard scissor spring) will give the scissors the proper "snap". Plus, then you have to figure out how to squeeze the small blade in, which probably means making that custom spring wider than needed, and using washers near the scissors and blade to fit them properly...

This is due to the unique shape and dimensions of the scissor "tang" compared to tangs of other tools, I pressume. My ignorance on the subject is pervasive, and will only be cured by practical experience. I'll bow out before I derail the thread any further. -Tom
