We all have gear break down or that could use a quick sew up. We also have gear than just need tweaking yet requires a stronger needle and thread. I had looked for sail needles but I really wasn't sure what the heck those were. I was in wallyworld and found Plastic/Canvas Needles and Yarn needles which I thought would work and for less than $2 a pack, why not try?My leather sheath I showed you all began to come apart. The stitching began to pull away so I figured lets give these needles a try. I didn't have any string thread so I gutted 550 cord and used the inner strand. Worked like a charm and my sheath is back in business. I need some serious work on my stitching tho. I figure when its time to re-stitch I'll pay closer attention to looks. The needles are "blunted" at the tips tho I don't exactly know why. Its a good thing for what I'll need them for. Anyway thought I'd pass this along.
I have used waxed dental floss for a repair on leather. It has lasted now for several years without fraying or needing replacement.
