+1 SANTA

 Now can you call Victorinox , and tell them that charging me $35 to change the battery in my watch is a TOTAL RIP OFF!!!, and with the fact they want me to ship it to a dealer and pay to have it shipped there &  returned (an added $16) is again TOTAL BULL SMURF ...........  :D

Why send it to Victorinox? A battery change is something any reputable watchmaker can do. Should cost you in the vicinity of $10, and that includes the cost of the battery. A reputable watchmaker is usually found in a higher end, independent jewelry store, where they do work in-house on prestige brand mechanical watches. I'd never have it done at a shopping mall kiosk, a chain jewelry store (e.g. Zales), or department store jewelry counter (including the upscale ones). A real watchmaker knows how to get the backs off and back on again blindfolded without gouging them, or shattering crystals, and have the proper tools for it.

This just showed up at the post office. Problem fixed.

Many thanks again to Al (50ft-trad), who kept after the dealer to send a replacement.

Quick update:

The little smurf failed to phone or email me.... again.... so I called him....again.... and got a tracking reference for the new package (supposedly collected today at 3pm). This should be showing on their system and trackable by 9pm GMT, and showing that the package is off his premises and in the hands of Royal Mail. If all is well, I'll forward on the reference number, and if not I'll get back on the phone and tear him a new one.

Very very sloppy business practice, and even if this replacement knife comes through, I can't say this company is worthy of future business. There just seems to be no motivation for fixing problems, or responding to customers issues. They just seem to want to whack stuff in an envelope and forget about it. They don't seem malicious or underhanded, they just don't seem to be trying.

I would add STUPID to the list of their characteristics.  They don't seem to have realised they are dealing with someone determined to see the matter through, and that it is actually less work to just keep the customer informed.  It wasn't like Al was going to go away if they ignored him (and why should he ? ).  I suppose a charitable person could say this person was just swamped with work and couldn't get to this particular order, but I'm not that charitable  >:(

Well Done !    Al

Here's the guy's address. For the record I'm deleting it from my list of knife dealers.

 :tu: Colo

I was going to order .......... But , I don't have the financial ability to GAMBLE with them at this time.
I think......... Seeing a friends issue , allows me the time to sit back and watch , and see if this a company is one I would like to do business with in the future or not!  :-\

I have bought from there in the past with no problems, but read the reviews stating lack of communication - hoping that nothing went wrong with my orders.  I probably won't use them again after this.  Well done to Al for sorting you out, and I'm glad you finally got what you ordered ColoSwiss. :tu:

With the huge number of choices out there... any bad experience is enough to help me decide...I'll never deal with them

The dilemma is that for those custom designs, they are the only choice.  There was an outfit called "Saktory" that got various artists to come up with these designs a few years ago.  I'm not sure what happened to them, whether Saktory became swisstool.co.uk, or if they went out of business and swisstool.co.uk bought up the stock.
I guess the stock is running down because there used to be a lot more designs that don't seem to be listed on their web site now.

Edit: the internet archive of the saktory.com site from 2014 shows the same postal address as swisstool.co.uk now, so I guess they are the same organisation.
