Thanks for that - it makes a lot of sense. As a side note, they deleted my complaint post and picture from their facebook page. This, to me, means war! Please go and comment on my re-posting of the picture. I want to force them to aknowledge me, or the failed blade.

For me personally, them trying to sweep an issue under the carpet is a bigger concern than having a genuine production problem. I'm glad you got some recognition from them Simon, but it really shouldn't have taken that much shouting. I know I had a query with SOG a while back (all I was after was the spring for the bit adapter - and I was prepared to pay for it) and got absolutely nowhere with them even by phoning their HQ. I wasn't impressed
The response I finally got from them was basically "You should have known there was an issue with these, because we've acknowledged it at some point in the past, so send it back"I refuse to pay for return postage - so we'll start the clock on that one.
Good Lord...When I was in the Service I spent 3 months in Honduras and while there purchased a Tramontina off of a farmer...Dtrain
Just letting you guys know that I just "Unliked" SOGs Facebook page.. I still love their (older) extremely well-built Multitools, but the last weeks reports of low quality Mall-ninja products, poor QC along with the "Fanboy-crowd" praising them every time the post something, made me think it was time to go.. Please let me know if SOG come to their senses and get back to what they do best..

We had a discussion about them last week in this thread. There's a link in there to get them cheap in the US too.
Having spent some time in Honduras myself the last few years, this is still how its done. As amazing as it seems, the machete is like the SAK of Honduras (and probably many tropical locals).Never been a big SOG fan before, and this episode isn't helping. I don't necessarily think the defect is so bad if they are willing to stand behind it, but the perception that they are trying to hide it is disturbing....
