One thing I've discovered about myself is that I feel naked without an SAK in my pocket.
I think that many of us have a preparedness mindset, which manifests in wanting to be ready for life's uncertainties. So we carry a SAK, and maybe a knife, a light, a Sharpie, a small FAK, etc. Some of us store water and a little food, or own a generator or two. All of this derives from our desire to protect and care for our loved ones, and to create a small measure of certainty in an uncertain world.
