How About a Really Old Knife-based Multitool?
on: January 22, 2017, 11:24:00 PM
This is an old Japanese Tanto from about 1350-1500. Sharp, tempered edge, armor/mail-piercing shape. Signed Kanemoto.

The sheath has a pocket on each side with a knife on one side and 'hair-pin' on the other. This is actually the dress or ladies version of mounts (aikuchi) with no metal tsuba.

Not sure exactly how old this sword is;some have opined that it is old and others say it is a modern Chinese copy. Whatever the case it is one of the most unusual swords I have ever seen. Inserted in the scabbard on each side is a small dagger that can only be removed when the sword is withdrawn.
