Does anyone know if this grey Pioneer is made for general distribution in the USA or if it is a special run for Knifecenter com?

Interesting. Central Valley used to ship to Europe - I picked up a bunch of Olive green cadets a few years back - ca. 17 dollars a piece! -  but they must have had a bad experience or two cos their policy has since changed.
It always mystified me that items made in Europe often end up selling cheaper in the USA! Coloured alox below 20 euros simply doesn't exist in this part of the world. So I was pretty stoked to see knifecentre ships to Europe (at a reasonably price, too!)

Those ones were very dark, apparently in the flesh they were close to black but not quite.  Possibly, given the price, some kind of manufacturing error - either supposed to be black but didn't quite make it, or were supposed to be grey but came out too close to black.

I received 2x today.  They are virtually black.  Not gray.  Its not the end of the world to have 2x black Pioneers, but that's not what was advertised.

Edit:  at least to my eyeballs.

Form what I recall, the Dark Grey Pioneers were to have been a special color to be combined with a SAK Watch that apparently was not released.  The knifes began appearing over two years ago and I think Cutlery Shoppe was one that first started offering. 

The one I received from them, was almost black but not thesame as my my black alox.

Wow, that was fast! Ok so I asked for Fedex shipping (after losing 3 Orange Farmers in the post a while back) but I didn't think these would arrive so soon. (USA -> Europe)

I am not at all disappointed by this colour. If anything it looks a bit less glossy and a bit more stealthy than the 100% black on my Italian farmer. This is my first regular Pioneer - I have a Rancher and a couple of X's but for some reason the basic Pioneer has always eluded me.

Anyway - WOW! This is a gorgeous little knife and probably will be my SAK of choice for a long time.
Thanks T14 for pointing this out to us! Great knife, great bargain! I think it looks absolutely stunning.
