Mod: Slimming the Swiss Tech Micro Slim 9 in 1 (and TSA complaint)

Mod for slimming the Swiss Tech Micro Slim 9 in 1: 

LEVEL: EASY  TIME: 15 minutes (With light tools and a bit of effort, with heavy tools would be a few minutes)

Tools used:

- Victorinox Mountaineer for the metal saw
- SOG EOD Powerlock B63-L for pliers and prying with flat screwdriver.

1 There are 2 versions of the Micro Slim:
- welded+pinned  (up)
- only pinned (down)
This mod only works for the only pinned



2 Pry the cover and will pop up (with a pry or a screwdriver)

3 Pull out the blade and the spring (with pliers)

4 Pry the metal band to get space for the metal saw (with a pry or a screwdriver)

5 Cut the pins (with a metal saw)

6 Extract the metal band (with pliers)

7 Extract the pins (with pliers)

8 Pry the nail file (with a pry or a screwdriver)

The result:



You now have a slimmed Micro Slim 

Weight before:  63,1 g 
Weight after:     46,2 g
Weight reduction:  +- 27%!

And TSA complaint!!! Wrench, bottle opener and phillips and big flat screwdrivers (no blade and no file).

As a variation you can leave the nail file by not doing the point number 8 (is well fitted and it wil not fall off)

P.S.4. The micro slim is big, but with the reduction of weight is less heavy than the Leateherman PS4  56,4 > 46,2 g. So, is an option
