Gray 111mm scales?
on: February 08, 2017, 08:57:00 PM
I just ordered some new "gray" 111mm scales off the bay, same seller also had black ones and these were obviously lighter than the black. Standard nylon texture and printed-on shield.

I was just wondering about them since I've never seen them before. What model did these come standard on, if any?

Could they be evenly-faded black or olive drab scales? (No deer head so probably not OD)

I'm fine with any of those colors so it's no big deal. But having never seen gray I'm curious about them.

Attached seller's pic:

Amici,
That's a good question, a special run perhaps? I've seen several colors in 111mm over the years, Gray are new to me, nice score..

Cheers,
Serge

My 111mm Master RT has gray Dual-Grip comolded scales of a similar shade, but as far as I know, that's the only gray Vic 111mm scales I'm familiar with.

Maybe advertising scales of some sort--many companies have knives made with unique colored scales.

The Garant Nomad has gray scales, but they're totally different (liner lock, the "racing stripe", slot for pin) even if you forget the Garant logo that's printed on.

I've got one black slide-lock tool and it's normal black. I'm voting for leftover advertising scales too.
May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

I saw those too. First I've seen. Wish they had them for the OHT. Good contrast of colors.

Garant has dark blue scales, not gray ones.

Oh, my mistake. They always look gray in the pictures. Thanks for setting me straight.

Not a problem!. Next time I'll try to do pictures with more realistic colors. :)

I'm pretty sure I've seen white ones too but that doesn't help :)

I'd love to find those!  I know someone here has an advertising knife that's 111mm/white.  I forget the brand,  I think "Leica" or something like that. Very small logo so it's not obnoxious.

That's the one! I've only seen one white one come up for sale...should have bought it.

The gray scales arrived. They are indeed dark gray and not black. Going on a pre-2005 WorkChamp as soon as I do a couple repairs to it.
